Tuesday: E-Voting
So did you vote online for homecoming court yet? (If not, the link is: http://eastern.lansingschools.net/scripts/survey/court_vote/). What do you think about our little experiment in a more direct, and efficient, form of democracy? Do you think it is a good idea and we should use it for more things - or do you think too many students aren't online and won't take any steps to vote at school (like in the library)?

I have not doubt that a lot of students do go online at our school library, but I do doubt that they'd take the time to participate in school votes. But it is a good "experiment," thinks I.

School votes are not the least bit important to me.

The voting online is a good way to reach out and recieve more votes because many students spend time on the computer.
ReplyDeletethe students who don't care, won't care if it's online or not. i think you're less likely to get the kids who just vote for whoever the person next to them tells them to if we do it online too.

I did vote yesterday afterschool. I think that online polling is a really cool idea. Its more efficient and much faster than our old-fashioned paper voting. =P

I think that the online voting is a good way for people to vote quicker, and I do think that lots of kids may or may not take the chance to vote and have school spirit. I also think that it is a good experiment for trying new things. ~~Morgan McCoy

I think it is good instead of people have to write on paper they can vote on line it won't be any problem.

I think the that they should stick with what their doing right now. Many people get on the internet but most of them dont want to waste their time doing that on their comp. Lots of kids dont even own a computer or just dont care.

don't really care so much but I think by voting online you'll hook the votes from people who really care what happens. plus the online voting gives more time to pick someone.

Voting online is really good, I like it alot but a bunch of people dont have internet or cant get on. I think there should be both options, online and offline.

I think its a good idea because it gives the students more power in what they want to do but they have to make sure they make responsible decisions.

ReplyDeleteI like the idea of doing the voting through our computers. It makes the process a lot easier on everyone for a few reasons. The teachers don't have to take time out of their schedules to take the vote. Its secure, as if people would illegally swing the vote anyway. And lastly, it gives more time for students to get used to using computers.

i think that this new vote online thing sucks, only becuase i think that not everybody will vote.
ReplyDeletealot of the schools students are online but i dont believe many of the students really would check edline to vote rather then students just voting in classes to make it a fair election, cause some people might vote more for one person then others, so it gives that person an unfair advantage

I think that it is a great idea that we took the intiative to do the voting online so that way with the people that are in class they can focus on class work instead of getting interupted. but i think that its a really great idea to have democracy voting so when people have some spare time go online and vote before during or after school.

It will be easier for those of us who have to count the actual ballots. And hopefully it will be the most fair to everyone. Then we can really see who deserves to win the title of Homecoming King and Queen.

It's alright. But there's always gonna be students who didn't pay attention &didn't hear about it &will probably be confused as to why they couldn't vote. Personally, I liked it. It was quick &easy.
