One of the positives about Eastern, as student's said at the Town Hall Meeting, is Eastern's diversity and our general acceptance of all people, genders, and sextualities.
One of the negatives about Eastern is its cleanliness, or lack thereof. The classrooms are often dirty, and it is by no fault of the staff. I think that after each class session students should be made to clean up their classroom a bit before going on their way.
I love how diverse Eastern is. We have students and teachers/administrators from all over the world contributing to our open atmosphere. This is one of the things, I think, that makes Eastern so attractive to other students coming from other schools.
One thing Eastern struggles with is respect. While we have a diverse group of kids here, we also have a lot of trouble with people respecting the property and one another. If we could just get a handle on this, we'd be good to go.

Positive: Diversity and the oppertunity we have at this school such as IB classes.
Negative: The freshmen that thinks since they are in high school can do whatever they want. NO YOU CAN NOT! Plus the rules here are a little more strict then other schools. It's relaxing to listen to music "During Lunch" with all the stress from my AP and IB classes. I can't see why I don't have a right to listen to music during lunch since it's pretty much a leisure time. Most of us work better after relaxing with music during lunch. Do not blame me if my grades slip... your the ones who always put me on the edge. We should have a choice to listen to our music during lunch. --Nate C.
As a parent, I feel that the diversity, the IB, and the wonderfully talented staff is what drew me to send my child to Eastern as a school of choice. I think that these things should be advertised more.
The negative for me is the disrespect of some of the kids and the lack of choices to remove them from the building. I feel that too much time is spent on approx 15-20 kids in each grade level and that takes away from the kids who want to be at school.
One good thing about Eastern is that everyone expect who other people are and they don't make fun of them. One bad thing is that we aren't having an achiviment in learning but we look like we are some what improving.

Eastern is very diverse! And i like that people dont just stick to one "clique". I have many friends from many different backgrounds and with many different life styles.
On the other hand Eastern does have some kids who just dont care... they arent coming to class on time, when the are in class they're disruptive. Which kind of rueins things for kids that are ALWAYS on time, and always doing there work.
- I think that the best thing i like about eastern is the new tardy policie. Only because of the t.v that shows you how much time you have and the whole social room thing. because people are not trying to get suspended for 3 days. And as for the challenges, i don't have one at the moment..
I got a negative, why do i come to skool and smeel weed all the time? It's either in the stairwell or on a kids clothes. Cant the kid be search by an officer because of probable cause? On a positiver note i love the chairs in this class, we need a set for all classrooms XD
Postive: Eastern accepts people no matter the color of the skin or language spoken. I also like that most of the people are outspoken.
Negative: The bathrooms are always dirty because of the kids that like to skip in the bathroom and vandalize it. The kids that think skipping school all the time is cool but its not, its a really stupid thing because it could affect your future in the long run.
i think we should do the "town hall meeting" more often, because i really liked them, i also think that it's a nice way to get the teachers to hear what the students have to say.
I think the postive would have to be even though I'm not a junior I enjoyed the pizza at the mme after party and the attendance for mme that was pretty good.

The cell phone, Ipod thing has gone way out of hands. The school is making more and more rules, at lunch were told to go to the court yard to talk on the phone but then were not allowed out there...... that makes no sense the teachers need to think about the students prespective not themselfes.... -Victoria Fields
yes, bribing them is a good way to make them come, but the schools need to come up with a better way of helping seniors (or those who have already passed there senior year and were unable to graduate) a better way of getting those students caught back up to where they need to be. AYP is a good thing to have but these schools have a little bit bigger problems that are not being addressed correctly.
I think a postive of this school is all the spirit we have for our school, I mean were doing amazing in basketball right now . Yay! :), but we always stand by our team when were not doing so great ( like football ) and thats what I love about this school . That is one thing I will truly miss.
One thing we need to work on is not having people skip and chill in the hallways , I mean seriously if I was gona skip class/ school I would go home , theres no point in staying there. Dannyel Forman <3
one of the positives are the activitys we are able to do in side some of the classes that make them more exciting. one of the negatives are the classes that are dull an make the student want to avoid going to that class. some classes allow you to have fun while others take it away but all classes should find a place in the middle
Negitive: We should be able to wear our hats..its not like it stops us from learning or anything..And we should be able to text in class as long as our phones are on vibrate..Also we should be able to listen to music because its a proven fact that students get work done faster by listening to music. And the school needs to ALOT more cleaner..
Positive- Eastern has some really great teachers. A lot of them are really dedicated and put in after school time and participate in school activities. I have about ten favorite teachers and I feel like the education I receive under them is just as good, if not better than the education some kids pay lots of money for.
Negative- Nobody cares about their school anymore. There's no school spirit and kids don't play sports or participate in extra-curriculars anymore. The student body is, in general, pitifully apathetic, which is why we've failed to make AYP in the past. -Katie King

The good~ There are great teachers and a strong curriculum.
The bad~ The lack of discipline negates all the good intention. There are too many students who have no respect and the rules are not being enforced properly. I have seen students smoking and littering every time I'm on school grounds. Both my children have suffered from distractions caused by other students who are constantly being disruptive.The majority of good students fall on the wayside because the students with a lack of direction are not given appropriate consequences.
