I LOVE this article on money, happiness, and rampant consumerism - Jeff Yeager and I must be twins separated at birth! Check it out and then I encourage you to consider committing to finding happiness through this philosophy of "less is more." What do you think?

  6. I have always been taught it's not about what you have but what you can make of the things you have, so I agree less is more. I believe a person cannot be happy suffocated under all their possessions and in order to find happiness a person must let go of all their baggage. It’s about what you can carry on your back than what can weigh you down.

  7. For me, I think it would be hard to establish a "permanent standard of living" because what is "permanent"? But that aside, it is important to ask yourself what is enough, and not to spend more simply because you can.

I am, by nature, a frugal person. Even when I have money I never know what to spend it on--I don't seem to want anything--so I end up just saving it and, ultimately, giving it away because I have no use for it.

  8. Less is more. I liked the article. We should be living within our means, and when we have the money, enough to live comfortably, no need to spend extra to show off...

  9. This guy has obviously found something that works for him. but this philosophy is very correct why waste money on extra things that we dont need. and also why make money and big things the most important part of our life we just need to step back and look at what should be most important in our life.

  14. I agree. People find ways to survive the high prices but because the people are run by advertsiments its hard not to to go out and get the new stuff. Though if you wait you can get then new stuff just as cheap in a few months when it isnt at its high point.

  16. Well since I dont have any bills to pay I spend money on whatever I want at the moment. I am very good at saving money but if I dont have something that I need then I spend it on what I want.

  20. well i think in some cases more is less because just buying more things because you feel they would make you happy just leaves you broke.... and i dont think you should do so much thinking about how big is my house going to be..

and i admit i do think of expensive things but then i have to think about long term where will it leave me as due to being financially stable...

  28. Well today (4/20/10) I'd really appreciate more for my birthday. Maybe a gift or at least out to eat somewhere. But I guess I'll stick with, "Have a nice birthday (at school =/ ) hunny!". No money = crappy B-day nowadays.

  30. I am one of these cheapskate type people and I feel riches doesn't buy happiness... So if it isn't a necessity then it's a want and is not that important.
