Check out this article on CNN:
Can computers take the place of teachers?
Do you agree with the article - just give kids free access to the internet and they'll organize themselves into a learning community?

no because people wont do there work they will just play games on the computer.
ReplyDeleteno because they cant set up projects or assighments bye them selfs
ReplyDeleteNo because it`d be a severe distraction and it wion`t be able to answer personal questions that pertain to the class. It wouldn`t be as helpful as an actual teacher
ReplyDeleteI do not agree with giving kids free internet access. No child is going to teach them selves. Giving them more internet access is just going to put them back more. They are going to be to busy surfing the web and doing whatever they want to do, instead of learning.

I dont think that a computer can take a place of a teacher. Students will not pay attention, they will play there games. It will not be a good idea. Students need that person there to teach, not a computer.
ReplyDeleteDolores Hernandez
i think they cant because computers could only be for a perfect student. everyone doesnt learn the same and a computer would try to teach everybody the exact same way. they need teachers because they can recognize where the student is weak and needs more help there. an where the student is stronger an doesn't need as much practice in
ReplyDeleteWOW :) TALK ABOUT INTERESTING :)
ReplyDeleteI HONESTLY do believe that people can LEARN...
LEARN from ANYTHING.
Computers can TOTALLY NOT take the place...
OF TEACHERS :)
I believe kids NEED someone there for them...
As you saw...
Kids are able to learn quickly...
But are NOT able to turn themselves...
Into a LEARNING COMMUNITY :)
THAT IS...
WITHOUT THE HELP OF TEACHERS ♥♥♥
In my opinion having computers teaching students instead of teachetrs is a bad idea. Because they can't help students as well as teachers can. Students could possibly not even focus on work while on the computer. We need knowledge in our minds not just useless things.
ReplyDelete--Alex Ramirez
i dont think so because computers will get you distracted onto many other sites and things like that. You wouldn't be able to learn as much from a computer. It wouldn't be able to help you solve all of your problems or questions because it isn't built like that. Another human has experience and could definately help out in this aspect.
ReplyDelete-travis allen
No, I do not agree with computers should take over the teachers. Students won't teach themselves especially at that age. Their are so many distractions that come with computers it's impossible. So definately not!

I think that it can but only in some countries. It would be hard in the US because they're use to having teachers. But some part of the world its hard for people to get education and if you place a computer there they could really learn alot from that.
ReplyDelete-Lahai Swaray
I do not agree with this because students will not learn as well as they do. They will surf the web, play on facebook and myspace and watch youtube videos all day. So no. Its not right
ReplyDeleteThe video was kinda interesting, but I don't think computers can take the place of teahers. kids need someone there to ask questions and to have human interaction. yes, kids can learn from computers but not well enough to go and replace teachers with computers.
ReplyDeleteyes! computer can take the place of teachers an example of this would be credit recovery cuz the teacher is on the computer !
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion having computers teaching students instead of teachetrs is a bad idea. Because they can't help students as well as teachers can. Students could possibly not even focus on work while on the computer. We need knowledge in our minds not just useless things.
ReplyDeleteno because if you leave kids alone with a computer with internet, they wont do their work, they will just get on the different websites they like to use and the class wouldnt be organized at all.
ReplyDelete-Tyler Hoover
i disagree because kids will end up playing around on the computer and not pay any attention to their work.
ReplyDeleteno i don't think that by letting computers take the place of teachers students will organize themselves into the learning community because they'd spend all of their time on other websites like facebook or games or whatever. they wouldn't get any work done and most likely wouldn't pass any of their classes.
ReplyDeleteNo I dont think computers should take the place of teachers because, teachers can answer questions and there more self to it. They can make a bigger inpact on you to do your work instead of computers.
ReplyDeletei think that a computer will just give more distractions for the students to do other things. also the computer will probably not be able to give as much help as a teacher could
ReplyDeleteBrett Anderson
No because what if we don't understand something we can't ask the computer for extra help it can't help explain it in diffrent way that u might need to understand.
ReplyDeleteYes i think that computers can take the place of teachers! (:
ReplyDeleteI DON'T THINK that computers could ever take the place of teachers cause a person obviously made the computers can be smart but not aas smart as someone that made them. And there would be no way to show them efficently how to do it.

I Believe for some students they can take place as long as the student can keep track of all there stuff by them self but pther kids that are not as orginized might need a teacher there too keep them on track and remind them of things.
ReplyDeleteYea, there taking over on everything else. But that's if the students pay attention. But I doubt they would even do that. So not until students mature more, and they all mature at diffrent rates. so the quetion is really up in the air.
ReplyDeleteI think that computers cant take over and do what teachers do. Because teachers give structure.a compute can not. Kids want use the computer for education only.
ReplyDelete~shanice hobbs~ 3rd hour*
if the "programers" can make a (underline the qouts)"true, true, A.I.a computer program that can think for it's self" then just maybe your feelings of the everyones comments would just a wast of time trying to to tell people that its not a bad thing but most people are just idoits so you dont have to tell much about the ai so do what you wont idc.
ReplyDeleteThere are two reasons that I think it would be bad if computers replaced teachers. One is that students would be easily distracted by other stuff on the internet. It would also put a lot of people out of a job and that would be worse for our economy.
ReplyDeleteI think that computers cant take over and do what teachers do. Because teachers give structure and a computer can not. Kids wont use the computer for education only.

I Do Not Agree With This Article. Because I No When I Get On The Computer To Do Work I Tend To Wonder OnTo Other Sites. I Also Think Its A Bad Idea Because Listening To An Audomatic 'Teacher' Could/Will Get Boring Or Annoying.
ReplyDelete-Candice C. Hardrick
no i disagree because i know if i was giving free access on a computer i wouldnt do no work!
ReplyDeletei dont think that if u give the kids free internent that they will teach themselves because they will just go and play games or get on facebook and not do their work.
ReplyDeleteNo bc then that would make more ppl unemployed. And thats something the goverment doesnt know how to fix yet...
ReplyDelete~Melissa Miller 3rd hour~
i think all kids should go through the old fashion way where they shut up & listen to the teacher
ReplyDeleteits a myabe thing because even if u us the internet insted of teachers u can go at a pace u wont and still do u work, but the bad thing is tht some people might not do there work.
ReplyDeleteAnd have teachers allows u to talk to a real person and talk with them or other students
No, a computer can never be programed with the thinking capabilities and creativity of a human. At best a computer could be used to show a concept then give an assignment. All questions could be directed to a teacher who could provide help, though it would not actually help.
ReplyDeleteno body needs to teach any one
ReplyDeletegetter done
Yes I believe that computers can definetely take over the place of the teacher role, but it will show them discipline and maybe the teacher can teach them better on how to do certain things.
ReplyDeleteComputers can teach you more than what teachers can but they cant give you that extra visual or physical help that a teacher could
ReplyDeleteCorrection the last sentence is supposed to be: "All questions would be directed to a teacher who could provide help, though they would not actually teach the whole class.
ReplyDeleteHell no cuz if u get lost u wont know what to do. another reason is to keep people on task
ReplyDeleteI think we should stick to the normal way and have the teachers teach instead of computers.
ReplyDeleteI don't really agree. There are some things you can learn yourself, but there comes a point when kids need to ask questions. Also, there tends to be some kind of bond between teachers and students that can't be made between a kid and a computer.
ReplyDeleteI think computer can teach kids, but having a teacher is better because teacher can connect to student. Also you can cheat using the internet.
ReplyDeleteI am going to say no. I think some students have the habbit of going to other web sites and that will pose as a distraction and they probably would not be able to get anything productive done. Teachers have a way of getting to sudents that computers dont. Computers can't communicate in the way that actual people can. Computers don't have the ability to form bonds with people like teachers can, and they surely cant talk to a student if they need assistance...
ReplyDeleteyes, it would just take the commetment to do so because some students would choose to go to other sites if they work by them selves on a project. But if they were to work together they would probally stay on track for a lot longer and actually do the ssingment. So yes teachers can be replaced by computers.
ReplyDeleteNoo i Don't Think That Computers Can Take The Place Of Teachers. . It Would Cost A Lot Of Money To Get All The People Who Don't Have Computers To Get One, And It Will Put People Out Of Jobs . And It's Not Healthy To Sit And Stare At A Computer Screen All Day, And Sitting All Day Isn't Healthy Either. It'll Also Take Away The Whole School Experience. You Cant Really Meet People Over A Computer Like You Can In Person. Overall Its Just A Bad Idea - Computers Don't Have Personalities Like Teachers Do .
ReplyDeleteI would say yes computers can take the computers, but then I would say no they can't because you still might need like that hands on learning.
ReplyDeleteNot really because they think they could take stuff from the internet like someone elses work and ideas and use it as theirs so they wont ever learn anything or learn to be creative. The computer could help students but its better if its demonstraited right in fron of you so you have a visual idea.

The internet is a very useful source for people. Students can learn about practuclly anythinq, from animals to the life of past activist. But, I dont believe any technology device can be programmed in order to give students their education. Students need someone that they can personally ask questions in case they dont understand somethinq. They need to be able to interact with their teacher as well as other students. And, the principles, or whom ever is in charqe, wouldn't be quranteed that the students are doinq their work correctly, or if their even doinq it.

No, i think computers will be able to help kids learn but they wont be able to replace a teacher. If you left kids with a computer that would be leaving them with too much responsibility. Kids have teachers right now and wont do there work, a computer wouldnt change it at all.
ReplyDeleteI think that taking teachers out of school would take out all the fun. Learning without the guidance of a teacher is not productive.
ReplyDelete--Sarah Kimmel
So yea...i believe with the right set of kids teachers could be replaced by computers...they have to want to lear and they couldnt be students that wont payattention and slck off every chacne they get.
ReplyDeleteNick Vollmer
Teachers could be replaced by computers. But only if they have the right students that would actually listen and pay attention. And not play games and things like that. But it would be best if teachers were around because then you can ask questions and get better answers. And then you wont have to worry about that set of kids playing games.
ReplyDelete~Jasmine Telusca-Frazier
I think it would be a good idea so that students can work at their own pace and not the teachers, students might want to surf the web, but blocking those sites even at home is possible, I think it would be very intresting to watch the progress students make

To tell the truth I dont know...there are plenty of programs where the computer is teaching the student...but A computer can never give you the one on one teaching that a teacher can..
ReplyDelete-M.keys
no i think we should have a teacher to explain things. even when i read a book or i google somthin somtimes i still need a explaination from someone else to get the full understanding
ReplyDeleteno i dont think so, because we the people control the computer amd we make it do the things we want it to do.
ReplyDeletekhadija said: no i dont think so, because we the people control the computer amd we make it do the things we want it to do.
ReplyDeleteNo, computers can not take the place of teachers because it wouldnt be the same and everything done on computers doesnt really give you a good explaination on how things is work. And you need a teacher to stand beside you to tell you that your doing something right and if you need help they'll help you.
