'Racist' Bake Sale?!

You probably have not heard about the 'racist' bake sale that was held yesterday on the campus of Berkeley, CA ... you should check this article out real quick ... pretty crazy, but obviously since they got national news coverage pretty effective too ....

So what do you think. Do the organizers make a valid point - or have they gone just too far in trying to simplify a complex issue?

  1. Hmmm i think that is pretty racist but still kinda cool at the same time for some reason, just because the different the race the price is lower haha.

  2. Yeahh, it is a bit racist, and the organizers seem to have made there point... but stirred up a lot of emotions of the democrats at the university. They better watch out...

  3. I think that they were trying to make a point that colleges shouldn't pick favorites with how much they charge for admission based on race, and I think they got their point across.

I think it was racist, but if they were trying to prove something, then that is the point, isn't it?

  4. It's definitely racist but that's what this country is based off of, one race attaining more of an advantage over another. I understand how many see this as wrong but think about how long white people have had an advantage. Now if we try to "equal" it out white people are still going to be accepted into the college first before any colored person. The best way to solve affirmative action is to leave the bubble question about your race or gender blank on the answer sheet. Or an even better idea is to not include that question at all.

  5. I think its a great, simple idea that brings light to the new legislation. Many people would be appalled that muffin prices be based on the race and gender of the buyer. The same discrimination when giving admission or scholarships should be just as or even more appalling. I see the message the republican group is conveying and I hope no violence comes from the exploitation or unfair practices.

  6. I think that it's completely idiotic for them to try to take a stand against something by doing the same thing that the other side is doing. A wrong vs. a wrong does not equal a right!

  7. Very racist, but at the same time you cant help but notice that they are trying to get everyone to understand the concept. They didn't go the on the right route to show everyone though. The pubic though should not become violent about this situation. Even though if I went to this school, I would not participate in this bake sale.

  11. this is so racist!!!! and sexist! i mean women really only had to pay 25 cents? this is absolutely ridiculous, i think they went to far on this one

  12. I think that the Republican party at the university is in the right. I think that people may be taking this a little too seriously and that maybe this "joking-protest" is what the campus needs to become culturally aware and it can even act as a wake-up call for the entire country on the prices colleges are charging per student pending their race.
Personally, I almost support them in their protest and find it to be a breath of fresh air.

  13. so do the women get the Native American cookies for free?

  14. I feel like it was a good cause because certain races shouldn't be charged less because they are the minority. But I do believe that they could have protested a different way to prove their point and piss less people off

  15. It may be a bit racist, but the guy was trying to prove his views and get out some positivity from it.

  16. IT was very racist but they did it for a good reason. They were trying to get everyone's attention & show that it's not right to give people different prices because of there race.

  17. Everybody takin it way too serious when obviously the people who had this idea isn't out there calling people names or anything. just want to see what people think about it and see the emotions of what some people have i guess. no big deal in my opinion

  19. IT was very racist. But They wanted peoples attention to show that it's not right to give people different prices because of there race or sex.

  20. Yes they did go pretty far, but they needed to make a point, they needed attention towards the subject, and they got it.

  21. It was racist in my opinion BUT the poisnt was that they were making the point that you shouldnt descriminate against race or gender, but this was a VERY stupid way of doing so, i think

  22. I think all problems will go away if people stop caring. By that I mean, If no one is offended, no issue is made.

I hope this one works better than last week's:

  30. I honestly have no opinion on this. All I could say is re telling what they said, only with a clearer message. They're saying people are racist, so, to show what racism is, they did this. People are hypocrites, and idiots. Gah, I wish George Carlin were still alive. He'd be all over this. -Mike Smith, Hour 7

  36. It Is a good motive behind it. They were trying to make a point but people still took it as they were trying to just make others mad... -Jacob Breshears

  37. Its cool that they did that. trying to show how people are being treated. Didn't we fight the race battle along time ago. well now young students are trying to show that we may have fought it but it never really ended.

  38. Thia is racist in many ways. Not that this should be allowed but it is disrespectful and discriminates the law between equal rights.
