The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions

Consider the following three comments from the last blog ....

Jocelyn Manchester said...

A terrorist is a terrorist, and if it takes one life to save many then go right ahead.

Mike Smith said...
One person's freedom fighter is another person's terrorist.

Chris Pfeifer said...

I think this whole idea has good intentions but is not a good idea. They said he was deemed a threat, so what is considered a threat? I think now its not so bad but over time, the criteria needed to be considered a threat will be less and less.

... now consider this recent article - our Killer Drone program has a VIRUS!

Any new thoughts on this road our government is walking down?

  1. Possibly a good way to cover tracks if they get bad press for, lets say, an assassination.

But this is very concerning--what if it IS another country; if the gov't is unaware of what this virus can do, we could potentially be in danger (of attacks, intelligence loss that could compromise our troops, etc.

Very bad situation for the gov't to be in...

  2. Well obviously the government needs better anti-virus software on their systems and equipment ... lol

  3. Since the government is not sure of what is going on they need to be careful, we don't want more things going wrong more than what already is.

  4. We need to be careful that we don't do something to hurt a lot of people if things go really wrong.

  5. I still think it's wrong. And now with the virus, this probably won't be good for the US to explain if this virus makes the robot kill someone who's done nothing wrong....?

  6. Them finding out what were doing and plan to do would not be good in any way. But they got people trying to fix this problem so i don't believe it's gonna be that big of a problem.

  7. i think that is very bad because its juat not right.

  9. With all the technology these days and all the important things that those drones know and are capable of, why wouldn't we be ready for the virus I mean its like they never thought it was possible.

  10. thats a true staement. all terrorists dont mean to kill thousands of people all the time. they just do what they believe in. people do what they think is "right" even when its wrong in the eyes of everyone else. people just dont take that into account.

  11. i just think people react out of things that have been done to them just like regular humans but if they dont get these weapons under control we going to get into some trouble

  16. To me this this means that though we might think we are doing the right thing, turns out it is all for the wrong reasons or because we view it in one perspective.

  19. The lines people draw are all dynamically different. It's impossible to do something and not cross a line. And since the lines are always changing, standing still will get you to cross one as well. People need to deal with it. Sure, it's horrible, but it's just another death. Someone is getting murdered right now, does anyone in this class care? I doubt it. People are getting murdered all the time. Every moment in time a murder is happening. In motion, at least. If you don't know, you don't care. Ignorance is bliss. -Mike Smith Hour 7

  20. With the way they can be controlled remotely, I hope there is a way to stop them manually from doing anything. The scary thing is that any over ride they try could still fail do to the virus getting into the coding of the system. Even if they wipe the system "like they said" it won't get rid of it because they don't know where its coming from and which files its attacking. Its like finding a needle in a hay stack. Sad thing is, even if they find it it can move. -Jacob Breshears
