Closing Eastern, Sexton, or nobody?
What do you think is going to happen tonight and Thursday at the School Board meetings? What do you want to happen? Share your thoughts on on the whole subject.
They shouldn't close anyone. I was surprised to find out at a student meeting yesterday that the original plan was to restructure an elementary and middle school and simply have a K-8TH school. No one mentioned closing ANY of the high schools; someone just threw that idea in there and they've gone along with it ever since. They should just stick with their original idea
I think that they will close Sexton. i hope they will close Sexton. i feel that they shouldnt close any of us,but if they had to close one i hope it is not Eastern. the only thing we dont have is a football field!! we can take Sexton's if they close. ~MERCEDES SAUCEDA
Well, firstly this is solely about money, money which the district is out of. We need to find a solution which is best for not only the district but for the students as well, personally I think the best line of attack would be to consolidate 2-3 elementary school saving the district ruffly the same amount of money as well as eliminating the hassle and trouble of closing one of the three high schools in the district.
I think that they shouldnt close a high school right now they should try closing a few elementary schools. If they close Eastern then all the students here with have to be bused to the south side because both sexton and everett are on that side of town. Sexton is in the middle pretty much so it would be easier for them to bused to the different schools. But either way parents are going to be mad about it and Lansing will lose students to other districts.
I don't know what is going to happen at the school board on Tuesday and Thursday. And i want eastern to not get shot down because so many people will have a hard time getting to school and sexton and Everett should get closed down because eastern is like a community and it has more people than sexton or Everett.And half of the people that live by eastern don't even go there they come to eastern.-ajaib ali

well maybe they wont close either of the high schools if were lucky, Eastern is our home but its wrong for us to say close sexton because sexton is a home to many other students and staff members just like us. so they should reconsider the elementary schools and middle schools because we have so many.
They should close sexton because ppl that live near sexton aren't going to school there and beside eastern is the only school that offers the IB program
I would say close the school that has very little academic growth. Set everything else aside and think about what's going to better the students education wise. We need to fight for our students education. Who cares what school closes all that matters is that the students are getting the best education that the Lansing School District can offer them.
i don't think eastern should closed down because it has bigger than sexton. the Lansing school board should discussed it in Thursday and the parents will be angry for the students should go to school in someplace else. i think they should close sexton next year i hope they gone forever?
I definetly don't want eastern to be closed down next year. Next year is my senior year, and it would really be heartbreaking if i spent it in a brand new school with brand new people.. no one wants to be the new kid, especially during your senior year
