Some teachers are getting together after school today to talk about what period we should have Advisory next year. For many of us, first hour seems like the best place for Advisory, in a perfect world. But since our world is not yet perfect, many are afraid that first hour Advisory will encourage even more tardiness / truancy then we suffer currently.
Which hour do you think we should have Advisory and Why?
BTW - bonus question - What do you think about our daily announcements? Do you watch them every day in Advisory?

I think we should keep Advisory after 5th hour because kids are more likely to come and do work that they've gathered throughout the day. Placing it during 1st hour seems illogical because students don't have an idea of what new assignments they have to do. Also, students are more likely to remember the announcements at the end of the day rather than the beginning because it's the last thing they take with them before they leave school, besides they're 7th hour work. Besides, the announcements are very entertaining and it's better to have that sense of humor after most of our classes are over. My advisory class watches it each day and we enjoy getting info in a fun way.
ReplyDeleteI really like advisory where it is now, it gives us a chance to kind of unwind too, and I agree with Sharica, to do work we've gotten throughout the day, she pretty much sums up everything. And, I do really like the announcements, it's nice to kind of sit back and have some entertainment at the end of the day and take a break from the uptight atmosphere...

ReplyDeleteAdvisory should stay 6th hour. Thats because if it were first hour people would skip and not coming into school until 2nd hour and if we had it 7th hour people would just leave early. With it being 6th hour people stay for advisory because many students have a core class 7th hour.

ReplyDeleteIts best for it to stay after C lunch. If its moved to first hour people will just not come to advisory.I think the accouterments are interesting and less boring
